About groups.im

groups.im is a special chat service based on IM tools. By using it, you can not only make new friends with a same interest, but also keep in touch with your fellow students, friends and family members. Currently, it is compatible with Windows Live Messenger (MSN), Yahoo Messenger (YM) and Google Talk (GTalk). It will soon support other popular chat networks such as AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Facebook Chat, Twitter, Skype, etc.

It is easy to make friends on groups.im. You can find your interested groups in 380,000 groups.

You can create groups for your fellow students, friends or family members and keep contacting with them.

You can chat in real time with friends on Messenger, share your ideas and photos on group site, or take a private chat with some group members. If you are an admin, you can control your group members, and hold a masked ball.

Group Interface

Each groups.im group is a contact on your Messenger contact list.

Chatting in the group is just like chatting with your contact, but your words are visible to every group member.

On Windows Live Messenger (MSN) or Yahoo Messenger (YM), you can also use Activity Panel (Google Talk not supported at present), in which you can see group information, memberlist and conduct operations and management directly. Of course, you can also use the same functions by sending commands in the chat window.

Group Site

We provide a group site to each group.

Group site is a free web space, where group members can make discussions and share photos.
Of course, it is possible to make settings and management for the group.

Special Features

Send Pictures Directly

So easy to share pictures. Sending a picture to a group just like to your contact, and other members will see it in the group.
Do you want to share pictures more easily? Just drag pictures directly into the group chat window, or use copy and paste commands.

Private Chat

If you want to communicate privately with some of group members, please use "Private Chat" feature.
Click the button beside the members nickname in member list, and chat in private.

Masked Ball

Masked Ball is a group game, where members can talk and communicate anonymously.
When masked ball is on, each member will be given a new nickname, so you can talk what you want to say without misgivings.
This feature is suitable for making jokes, anonymous discussions or anonymous voting.
